Both Hilzoy and Steve Benen have posts up about Alberto Gonzalez. It seems one of the perks of being Attorney General is being able to shut down Department of Justice investigations of... the Attorney General. One of the perks of being President is same.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... this administration is qualitatively different than the other ones I remember. I'm glad I don't have voting for GW on my conscience.
